We are seeking Teaching Artists that:

• Are legally eligible to work in the United States and can provide current and complete documentation for work.

• Can teach in English AND another language, particularly Spanish, Chinese, Arabic, Russian, Ukrainian.

• Have experience with Social Emotional Learning, Culturally Responsive Education, Trauma Informed Teaching, and Abolitionist Focused Education, STEAM education practices.

• Have experience teaching English Language Learners and neurodiverse, disabled, and D75 cohorts.

• Have availability Monday’s - Friday’s, November – June, for in school programming (8am-3pm) and/or after school programming (2pm-5pm).

• Represent the populations of students that we are serving. We serve students of the following identities and seek to add TA’s to our roster that identify similarly: Black, Hispanic, and Asian students, LGBTQ+ students, immigrant students, disabled and neurodiverse students.

• Can teach one or multiple arts mediums/specialties.

Teaching Artist responsibilities include:

• Designing and executing an age-appropriate, project-based arts curriculum.

• Preparing for and producing culminating presentations at assigned site(s).

• Collaborating effectively with coworkers, and communicating regularly with supervisory staff.

• Submitting complete lessons plans, timesheets, reports and other vital administrative documentation in a timely manner.

BAC selects Teaching Artists who embody the following qualities:

• Artistic Excellence, including quality and scope of professional artistic work, and depth of knowledge within an artistic discipline.

• Engaging Teaching, especially incorporating the creative process, reaching students across diverse developmental levels, yielding quality student work, strong understanding of arts learning standards, and substantial experience in NYC public school classrooms or working with urban youth, including strong classroom management skills.

• Professionalism, including abilities to plan with others, to articulate goals and objectives, and to adapt to varying student populations and school environments.

BAC TA’s can expect an average of 1-3 residencies (on average, 1.5-2.5 hours per week for 12 weeks per residency) per school year depending on programming needs.

In addition to teaching hours, each residency includes paid planning and professional development hours currently billed at $85/hour. BAC TA’s have access to Materials for the Arts and NYC Arts in Education Roundtable events.
